Shut the machine down
Running a system that is losing oil starves the pump. The most expensive emergency calls we see are hose failures that ran another twenty minutes.
Lower or block anything held up by hydraulics
A loader arm or header held up only by a failing circuit is a crush hazard. Get it on the ground or on stands before anyone works near it.
Stay off the leak
Pressurized oil goes through skin. If anyone has a suspected injection injury, that is an emergency room trip now, not a wait-and-see.
Photograph the failure if it is safe to
A photo of the burst hose and both end fittings, texted to us, often means the truck arrives with the exact hose already half built.
Give us a findable location
Field entrance, crossroads, pin drop, or the filing and lot number on a construction site. We will find the machine.
Emergency work is still table work at Longmont Mobile Hydraulics: the multiplier is published on the pricing page and the total is quoted before we leave. Most emergency hose calls land between $330 and $675 all-in.

- The machine is down right now. What do I do first?
- Shut it down and call (970) 528-6741. Do not run a machine that is losing hydraulic oil; a dry pump turns a hose call into a pump replacement. While we drive, take photos of the failed hose or cylinder and its fittings if you can do it safely.
- What counts as an emergency and what does it cost?
- Anything with a deadline attached: hay on the ground, feeding equipment down, a crew standing, a pour scheduled. Emergency work is a $175 service call plus 1.5 times labor, and both numbers are stated on the phone before we roll, so you decide with the cost in front of you.
- Do you answer at night and on weekends?
- We answer the phone whenever equipment runs, which around here means early, late, and weekends in season. If we genuinely cannot get to you faster than someone else can, we say so on the phone instead of wasting your downtime.
- Is a hydraulic leak actually dangerous?
- A pinhole leak under pressure can inject oil through skin, and that injury needs an emergency room immediately even when it looks minor. Never feel for a leak with your hand, use cardboard, and keep people clear until the system is depressurized.
